I joined family owned Hanson Travel at the tender age of 17 a few months after the store had just opened, throughout the years myself and the company have developed to who we are today.
This year we celebrate 35 years of trading!
I have had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places during this time, experience a rainbow of different cultures and create some very special memories – from scaling giant sand dunes in Namibia, helicoptering over Great Barrier Reef to fishing from coracle boats in Vietnam!
Countries visited:
USA, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean(Barbados, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, St Lucia, Antigua, Cuba, Bahamas, Aruba -beach holidays)
Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia
India, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Dubai, Israel, Egypt, Namibia, Cape Verde.
Cruising: Norwegian coastal voyage, Rhine cruise, Nile cruise, Scandinavian cruise, Greek islands, med.
Europe too many to list! But include ski-ing, and less tourist areas of northern spain and Italy.
Favourite destination:
I love India – it’s a total assault on your senses vibrant colours, aromatic smells and wonderful friendly people. It’s a holiday for both the body and the soul! Fascinating cities and beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Travel tip:
Google Translate is your most invaluable travelling companion especially the camera option for restaurant menus.
Last holiday:
Kefalonia – August 20, during covid. My only time spent indoors was sleeping, ate al fresco, stayed late on the beach to watch the sunset and strolls through the olive groves.
Where next?
I was booked to go to Machu Pichu, Peru in March 20 top of my bucket list ! soon as it is safe to go again it will be top of my list – until then my heart belongs to the Greek islands.
The best thing about working in travel is one day is never the same from selling the dream, helping someone to get A-B or reuniting families! And all the time learning about our fascinating world we live in along the way!
